Calling All Readers: I Need Your Help!

by Gena on October 4, 2009

Hey Guys!

Happy Sunday. I’m here with a very special request for you all. For as of yet undisclosed reasons–nothing super exciting, I promise–I need a little feedback on the best of Choosing Raw. That is, I need you guys to tell me what your favorite savory Choosing Raw recipes are! Savory means no dessert recipes–for now–though I may ask for a dessert vote soon. I can take some guesses as to my loyal readers’ favorites: raw zucchini marinara, raw peanut noodles, raw tortilla soup, raw pizza cheese wraps, and of course, the ever-famous guacamole. But some direction from you all would be most welcome.

If you have the time, please chime into this post and let me know which, if any, recipes you’ve tried and found worthy! I’d be super grateful.

And I’ll be back tomorrow with a Question of the Week.

xo

Darn it, Tracy! I need a savory one — for now. But I may well ask for a dessert vote soon!!! So hold that thought.

Zucchini marinara, especially the marinara. I’ve done all kinds of craziness with that, so considering it’s kind of a staple by now, I think that makes it favorite by default.

I loved your post with all the soup/blended salad recipes! I also love the Buttermilk Chive Dressing, it’s super tasty :)

It’s so hard to pick one recipe though, I love them all!

Love the zucchini marinara. My family also likes it heated.

I was going to choose chocamole, too…but I’d have to go with guacamole for savory.. :)

massaged kale salad, your tomato soup/blended salad, the carrot-miso dressing, pumpkin pie soup (does that count as savory?), green guacamole. actually your regular guacamole is also amazing, but with the mounds of pulp i have to find a use for each week the green guac was one of my favorite postings.

Ok; the zucchini Alfredo, and yes, ‘pizza cheese’. I’ll eat your cashew ricotta on anything!

Zucchini Marinara, for sure…. yum. I wish I had some zucchinis on hand right now. :)

Kat October 4, 2009 at 2:37 pm

Massaged kale salad all the way.

zoe October 4, 2009 at 2:42 pm

I too like your massaged kale salad, except that I know of quite a few other raw food bloggers who have also posted that technique, so I’m not sure if you’re looking for an original recipe vote, or what… Anyways, I also totally dig your nori rolls and your cauliflower salad.

i’ve only tried the raw peanut noodles, and they were really yummy.

Teresa October 4, 2009 at 2:46 pm

Must I only choose one? Ok ok, if I had to pick one I guess I’d go with the Pumpkin Pie in a Bowl Soup. SSSSSSSOOOOOOOO good!

For me it’s your gazpacho – perfect lunch that isn’t too filling!

Yoga Witch October 4, 2009 at 3:14 pm

I only found your blog this past summer, but yes, the peanut noodles would rank among my favorite savory recipes of yours.

The raw whipped cream is absolutely delicious!! I can’t even explain how amazing it is, especially on fruit.

I have two favorites, but I’ve tweaked them both slightly to my liking. Actually, that’s part of a good recipe for me, that I can change it slightly to suit me without throwing everything else off…which is one of the major pluses of simple recipes!

Your buttermilk chive dressing has become an absolute staple, I make a batch for our household (3 adults) at the beginning of almost every week since you posted it!! My only change is that I add a small amount of light miso to it. It works so well with the tomato, corn, and butter lettuce. But I’ve also it over all kinds of other salads and even spaghetti squash!

I make the pizza cheese pretty often, too. It goes pretty quickly. I use oregano instead of basil because I’m VERY allergic to basil! But other memebers of the household have said that, though good with oregano, they think it would be a lot better with the original basil.

Courtney October 4, 2009 at 3:34 pm

Shoot! I forgot you needed savory. I would definitely go with the raw zucchini alfredo sauce. Amazing!!!

Kristen October 4, 2009 at 3:37 pm

So far, the massaged kale salad. Simply because it is so easy, tasty, and a staple in my every day diet already.

Metta October 4, 2009 at 3:44 pm

The Spicy Avocado Dressing, Hummus, and massaged kale salad are my favorites.

Shelby October 4, 2009 at 3:46 pm

It’s a toss up between the pizza cheese and alfredo sauce! They are both drool-worthy!

Reply

TK October 4, 2009 at 3:52 pm

My vote is for the pizza cheese with the potato salad coming in at a very close second!

Reply

Rachelle October 4, 2009 at 4:08 pm

My vote is for the raw tortilla soup! It was so good I even posted it on my facebook page to all of my non raw friends! Yummy!

drea October 4, 2009 at 4:21 pm

raw peanut noodles! i made this for a dinner party to rave reviews!

Averie (LoveVeggiesAndYoga) October 4, 2009 at 4:42 pm

Peanut noodles but really just the spiralizing of zukes is pretty revolutionary if you’re looking for “best of” type things. The marinara sauce on top of zuke noods is pretty big too. I have tweaked spiralized zuke noods more ways than you can shake a stick at so that’s my vote.

Oh and here was the link I promised you about the kelp noodle creations I made in your honor :)

It’s a tossup between the zucchini alfredo and the tortilla soup….I love them both and make them both often! I also really love your version of Kristen’s Harvest Soup (does that count??) :) Gena, I really love all of your recipes, to be honest!! Keep em coming!!

well, obviously the guac. also, anything that includes minimal fancy schmancy appliances…
that said, im thinking about asking for a spiralizer for my bday. so i am about to head over to your kitchen tools section. but if you have any other spiralizer brands that you think are the cream of the crop – lemme know!! i figure i may as well go deluxe and (hopefully) not have to replace it anytime soon. are there many differences between the more pricey ones and the cheaper options?

I smell a book in the making! (or perhaps a feature in a magazine?)

Okay, I have a list of savory faves. I tend to go for the ones with a little “kick” if you know what I mean. :D

Raw Tortilla Soup
“Peanut” Noodles
Thai Red Pepper Coconut Noodles
Creamy Avo-Cumin Dressing
Raw Green Goddess Dressing

Pizza cheese all the way! I eat way too much of this stuff. Especially with the collard wraps…those are fantastic..even without the pizza cheese and just veggies. I never would have tried them if it weren’t for your blog! Thanks :)

marina October 4, 2009 at 8:47 pm

pumpkin pie in a bowl. (that is savory, isn’t it? there’s salt involved. heh.)
if that doesn’t count, then i’d say the avo cilantro soup :)
this was hard, i love all of your recipes!
