Hi all,
I’m thrilled with the responses I’ve gotten to the birth control question. I confess that I sparked that topic with a very imperfect knowledge base, and you guys have really helped fill in the gaps. Thanks, and keep your thoughts coming, please!
Three special announcements:
1) Next Wednesday, October 14th, at 7:00 PM, I’ll be co-hosting a very special lecture on cellular cleansing and detoxification with Gil Jacobs and Cassie Karopkin of Axis Healing. For those of you who don’t know their work already, Gil and Cassie are leaders in health. They’re among the best colon hydrotherapists in the world–I’d argue without reservation that they are the best–and they have unparalleled knowledge about the body’s capacity to heal and about proper nutrition and self-care.
I know that many of you have heard me mention colon hydrotherapy and are curious about it. If you’re in the New York area and are free to attend, please do! You’ll have a chance to say hi to me, to hear all about detox from those who know the process best, and to meet others who are interested in a cleansing lifestyle.
If you do wish to attend, please email me at Gena@choosingraw.com by Monday, October 12th. You’ll get bonus points if you also include a question about raw foods or detoxification that we can address during the lecture. The lecture will be held at 528 East 5th St., #1B, between Avenues A and B. Cost of admission is $10.
See you there!
2) Sick and tired of hating your body? I have good news: two fellow counselor friends of mine, Hadley Seward and Andrea Moss, will be hosting a group phone class, to be held every other Wednesday starting this month, called “Fall Back in Love With Your Body.” Put simply, they’ll tell you how to feel beautiful on the inside and outside–without deprivation or denial.
Classes are held over the phone over four Wednesdays from 8p - 9p: 10/28, 11/4, 11/11, 11/18. A package of four weekly sessions for only $125, but if you sign up by October 14, it’s only $99. And all Choosing Raw readers will get a 10% discount if they mention having seen this announcement.
Hadley and Andrea are terrific ladies, and their classes are an ideal way to regain self-love in a non-judgmental environment. To sign up, please e-mail info@sparkyourwellness.com or call 917.328.5289.
3) Raw Wednesday returns tomorrow! Get excited!
xo

Very excited for Raw Wednesday! I’m going to think up a raw lunch so I can participate.
Love ya, Gena!

Ah I might be out of town next Wednes, but if I’m here, I’d love to come! I’ll email you once I’m certain!
Ahhh how I wish to be living in NJ again! I would have loved to attend your lecture. Yeah for Raw Wednesdays!
Uh oh, I’m wishing I lived in NYC right about now…would LOVE to attend your lecture. Hmmm a 3.5 hour train ride isn’t that bad…
Raw Wednesday is returning?! Dang and I already ate my breakfast. Oh well, lunch will be raw!
What exciting news… I wish I lived in the NYC area. I am excited for your raw Wednesdays.
You have so much exciting stuff going on!
I would love to go! Especially since I just got my juicer! I am going to e-mail you in a little while once I am certain
I’d love to go, until I saw the price tag
Any FREE lectures anytime Gena? I am a poor college student, and NYU is putting me in debt to my eyeballs, but wouldn’t mind sitting in. I’ve been reading your blog for a few months now, and it has reawakened my interest in raw foods. I’ve been eating vegan since I was 13 (almost 6 years now! woohoo!) but I’ve never done raw foodism for more than a few weeks at a time. Your recipes have been fun (and easy) to make, even for me. My aunt even gave me a juicer she just had unused and lying around! I do have a lot of food intolerances (including a bad nut allergy)
How do you suppose I get my proteins in a high-raw diet? Nuts seem to be a staple of Raw Foodism. And, ideally, legumes aren’t consumed either? (I am not allergic to seeds, if that helps)
Loved your post on birth control Gena - thanks so much. So perturbed with myself…I completely forgot about raw Wednesday…let’s see, I ate an apple today. That counts, right?
