This Just In

Another fabulous looking recipe from reader (and fellow blogger) Stacie. This is Stacie’s favorite raw lunch. She says:

“I spiral cut a zucchini and lay it over a bed of spinach.  Then I make a sauce out of tomatoes, yellow bell pepper and Italian type seasoning to put over it.  I top it with a dollop of almond cheese with onion, garlic, and nutritional yeast.  Sitting by the side is a piece of dehydrator bread.”

Here’s a photo of the lovely creation!

Yum! This looks delicious. I can’t wait to make this. What do you think about nutritional yeast? I’m sort of addicted to it. It makes my salad so yummy and creamy but I’m not sure how it fits in with D4W. The bottle of Red Star I use says “inactive yeast” and I’ve heard from other sources that it does not contribute to candida. Any opinion on this??

Hey sweets!

It doesn’t really fit into D4W: which is a bummer, since I love the stuff, too. But every expert I’ve consulted on this one has told me that nooch, even if it’s “inactive” and supposedly harmless, isn’t great for women who are yeasted or trying to cleanse.

The good news, though, is that it’s not a HUGE sin in small quantities, and especially not once one has cleansed and returned to balance (so think of it as you would think of some of the other foods that aren’t ok on the D4W plan but can be enjoyed occasionally after the 4-week plan is over, like very sweet fruits, grains, agave, etc.).

Hope this helps!
